Regional Economic Development
We primarily serve Sonoma County-based companies with an eye to partner with Marin, Napa, Mendocino, Lake and Solano counties. Our incubator plays a key role in local and regional economic development by invigorating a culture of entrepreneurship, sharing our research and forming strategic partnerships with other organizations and agencies to maximize our collective impact.

North Bay Small Business Incubator at the Share Exchange
The world as we know it is rapidly changing. The North Bay Small Business Incubator is positioned to lead a new generation of businesses that incorporate economic, environmental and social innovation on a path to a brighter future. We are actively testing new models of collaboration, business development and regional production with the intention of creating jobs, supporting innovation and creating a more secure future.
Even the big guys started small.
While most business incubators are focused on high growth industries like high-tech and bio-tech, we see bright opportunities in small, regional-scale enterprises in industries such as local food production, manufacturing and the health and cultural arts. As much as 80% of jobs come from businesses with less than 10 employees -- this is our target market. We help small businesses get out of the garage and grow.
The trends are clear that communities across the country are ‘localizing’, looking for ‘green’ solutions and are in need of true innovation. New models of success are cropping up all over the country and through our association with the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE), the California Association for Micro Enterprise Opportunity (CAMEO), North Bay iHUB and Bethesda Green - a national leader in green business incubation, we are also connected and part of this growing and exciting movement.
By operating the the Made Local Marketplace, a local retail showcase, the Share Space Coworking Center and Business Incubation Services, we are a focal point to accelerate economic localization and regional job creation. Our work increases community resilience and balances necessity with opportunity.
What is a business incubator?
Business incubators have been around since the 1950's. The idea is to have experienced mentors guide budding entrepreneurs and companies through the treacherous path of starting a business. If you are an entrepreneur, you know those waters...they are complicated!
Incubators really do help. In fact, studies have shown that businesses that were nurtured in an business incubator have a survival rate of 87%, versus 44% without the benefits of incubator support.
